July 17 - Basketball Championship Coming to Mannanam
The 46th State Junior Basketball Championship will be held from August 5 to 9 at Mannanam.The championship is organized under the leadership of the Kerala Basketball Association in collaboration with Kottayam District Basketball Association, St. Ephraim's School, KE School and KE College under St. Joseph's CMI Ashram, Mannanam.
The organizing committee formation of the championship was held at Mannanam KE School Auditorium. District Sports Council President Dr Baiju Gurukal, District Panchayat Member Dr Rosamma Soni, Block Panchayat Member Annamma Mani and others attended the said meeting which was inaugurated by Minister VN Vasavan.
The Organizing Committee elected a 101-member committee headed by Rev. Fr Mathews Chakalakal (Prior, St. Joseph Ashram Mannanam) as the Patron, Fr. James Mullashery as the Chairman, Shaji Jacob Padipurayakal as the General Convener, Biju D. Theman as the Organizing Secretary and Fr. Anthony Kanjiratilingal as the Chief Coordinator.
28 teams in the male and female category of the state with around 350 athletes and more than 60 competitions in 5 days have been formed today.
Mr. Ison Vanchipurakal Principal KE College, Mr. James P. Jacob Principal St. Ephraim School, Mr. Michael Cyriak Headmaster St. Ephraim School, Mr. Shaji George Vice Principal KE School, Mr. K D Sebastian Head Master K E School, Mr. Aji K Jose, Shri Reji Chavara Baiju Mathirapuzha, Johnny Pandarakulam and others spoke.
The Tournament Organizing Committee was inaugurated by Hon. Minister VN Vasavan.
